GENRE BENDER | The Forgetter Who Forgets

Created by Steven Miller & Sarah Rudinoff

Photography: Steven Miller
Ritual Guide: Timothy White Eagle

City Arts Magazine asked 10 artists working in different disciplines to collaborate on making a new piece for their series, Genre Bender. Sarah Rudinoff was put together with photographer Steven Miller to create a performance. The pair went into the woods at Smoke Farm with an old mutual friend, ritualist Timothy White Eagle. They took acid and spent a day going through a ritual based in the four elements.

In March 2015 they performed on stage with lots of cuddling couples at a purported meeting of the Seattle Cuddle Puddle Association where their journey began. The live performance then segued into a film, The Forgetter Who Forgets, a film or their ritualized experience at Smoke Farm.

Reviews

Steven Miller and Sarah Rudinoff began in the theatre world, snuggling at a meeting of the Seattle Cuddle Puddler’s Association. The pair then practically dove off of the stage and into the screen, where they documented a hilarious, hallucinogen-fueled trip to Smoke Farm, full of rituals led by Miller’s friend White Eagle, tree-swings for two, many-costumed dance parties and conversations reaching deep into these performer’s pasts.”
