These Streets Workshop and Interview- ACT Theatre
These Streets was an unconventional theatrical play and history project, inspired by women rock musicians in Seattle during the famed grunge years. Spearheaded by rock guitarist, Gretta Harley (who played in several bands during the era), Sarah Rudinoff and award winning playwright Elizabeth Kenny.
These Streets was inspired by over 40 interviews conducted with and about the many women rockers who were integral to the Seattle music scene during this legendary era. It wove together a compelling narrative, blending humor, raw grit, potent emotions and music.
Within this fictional narrative, the characters' intertwined past and present lives harmonize with the music of their past and present, brought to life by the talented performers and a live band. Featuring music from bands led by women in the 90’s
The show played to sold out crowds at ACT Theatre in 2013. In addition to the theater piece, the project also included a history piece that archived the work of bands led by women in Seattle in the 90’s. This archive can be found at https://thesestreets.org/.
