Mix/Worry

Frye Art Museum

2015

Mix/Worry was a commission for the exhibit Genius: 21 Century: Seattle presented at the Frye Art Museum.

Comprised of artists that had won The Stranger’s annual Genius Award in different artistic mediums, the exhibit at the Frye was a diverse sampling of work from Seattle’s creative community. The ambitious collection featured over 65 artists, 20 original commissions, performances, and talks.

Genius Award winners in Performance and long-time musical collaborators Sarah Rudinoff and Chris Jeffries created Mix/Worry. The title came from twisting a famous line from Edward Albee’s play Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, “Never mix, never worry!” The evening length work was a combination of solo archival work as well as a new commission mixing Joni Mitchell’s later songs about abuse with excerpts of Roberto Bolaño’s novel 2666.
